Marita Jacob, Chair of the Board and Vice Dean for Research

Marita Jacob studied Social Sciences, Mathematics and Economics at Justus-Liebig-University of Gießen, the Westminster University, London and the Free University of Berlin. Professor Jacob joined the Institute for Sociology and Social Psychology in 2011. Her research focus lies on inequalities during the course of a life, specifically educational inequalities, family and labor market. Her publications include papers on the influence of social background on educational decisions and educational careers; on links between education and fertility, and on labor market entry and unemployment, published in Social Forces, European Sociological Review, Research in Social Stratification and Mobility amongst others.
